Can it make it across the island of Manhattan? Mike Spinelli and the guys from /DRIVE put one to the test. Most suprising to us was not how well the 918 does in all electric, or that /DRIVE would put a 918 to the test across the pothole filled roads of NYC.  Instead, we were most surprised by how engaging and interesting this video is thanks to /DRIVE's cinematography and Spinelli's entertaining narration. Then, just as the rear-end starts to come around you touch the gas a smidge harder to snap the rear-end around. If you're lucky you break traction, spin the tires a touch and head on down the road. For the past 3 years Motor Trend has lined up 10 of the world's fastest cars on a deserted airstrip and raced them to see which manufacturer could claim bragging rights. This year's race includes an Alfa Romeo 4C, a BMW i8 and M4, a Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, a Ford Fiesta ST, a Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, a Nissan GT-R Nismo, a Porsche 911 Turbo S, a Subaru WRX STI and a Volkswagen Golf GTI. Admittedly, the only real contest in this year's line-up is Nissan vs. Porsche, but it's still fun to watch. Let's see who wins.

Late Sunday night our Instagram and Twitter feeds started blowing up with pictures of what appeared to be a 918 Spyder on fire at a gas station in Canada.  After a few minutes more information and even more gruesome images and vids were posted online.  We have pictures, video and what's currently available for information here in this post.
