It's been a bad week for fans of rare Porsches. First we had the fire at the Sacramento shop that destroyed the world's most original 911 RSR, then, we learned of this RWB 993 that was stuffed into a wall in Japan. As if that wasn't bad enough, the driver of the wrecking truck had some serious problems during the loading process and what you see above is the result.  Read the eye-witness accounting of this terrible Porsche tragedy from Mark Arcenal of Fatlace fame who was present at the event.

Late last week, Porsche of South Africa participated in a short private auction, and walked away with something that is really very cool, the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit. The circuit had come up for sale, and was being eyed by a few local land developers putting the track in danger of becoming a series of housing developments or office buildings. After a short bidding process, as you can see in the video in this post, Porsche eventually came out on top and took ownership proudly for only $19.5 million dollars. Here's why we think they purchased it. 
Mark Webber Gets Ready For The Lone Star Le Mans Weekend 
On September 20th (the same weekend of the Lone Star Le Mans in the USCC and the F1 Grand Prix race) the WEC will return to action at the Circuit Of The Americas (COTA). While the 4th race of the WEC season is still months away, that doesn't mean that Porsche factory driver Mark Webber isn't thinking about practicing. Unlike some of the tracks where other WEC events are held, Webber is familiar with COTA from his F1 career. Here's why he's looking forward to coming back.

The link brought us to a video filmed in Ultra High Definition by director Will Roegge; it's the inside story of BBI Autosport and the incredible Porsche Cup car they built for Jeff to run at Pikes Peak this year. In Jeff's own words it's a "Really nice 'behind the scenes' of what it takes to get a car to the summit of this famed mountain and the team that BBI Autosport creates to make that happen." The Porsche World Roadshow. What Is It? Where Is It? How Can You Get An Invite? 
It's tough to get the feel for a new car on a 20 minute test drive. It's even harder to get a feel for a Porsche as you can't get anywhere near the limits of their capabilities without getting arrested. That's one of the many great features of the Porsche World Road Show. It's an extended test drive in a closed course situation where you can drive a Porsche as it was meant to be.

If you're a Porsche fan, and you're online, chances are you saw this viral post from us last week.  In the event you were on vacation or don't look at the site until you get our newsletter then prepare yourself; the carnage is graphic.  Fueled by tires and other accelerants found in shops worldwide it's a miracle this fire didn't cause even more damage than it did. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the shop owner and those customers who lost Porsches in this huge conflagration.  See what more than 40,000 other Porsche fans were so saddened by last week. 
The Velocity Channel's "OVERHAULIN'" Will Feature Their First Porsche Build Ever Tonight! 
Velocity Channel is home to a number of my regularly watched shows including Chasing Classic Cars, What's My Car Worth, and OVERHAULIN'. If you're not familiar with OVERHAULIN', it features Chip Foose (the father of the modern hot-rod) and his iconic designs. Usually, OVERHAULIN' is almost exclusively American Muscle. However, this week it features its first ever Porsche in the form of a 1962 356. While the promo video in this post suggests it will get the "full Foose treatment" the work is actually done in conjunction with Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports and uses parts from our friends at Stoddard.
