Video Review: Wringing The 918 Spyder's Neck
|
The 918 Spyder is entirely crafted of superlatives. It does things that other cars can only
dream about when tucked safely in their garages at night. It is a tech machine on wheels. It is, as Mike Spinelli puts it in the latest TEST/DRIVE video, "science fiction on four massive Michelins". It's a nerdy adrenaline-junkie's dream, to say the least.

A Day At Dr. Jack Gish's AutoCrib With Spyder Creation's 550 Tribute
|
On a recent sunny May Saturday, I made the trip to nearby Brookfield, CT with my pal - and detailing superstar - Larry Kosilla for an
invitation-only gathering of "Porsches and Pinots." While the promise of either cars or wine would have made the trip a no-brainer, I was in for an experience even better than expected. The event was the brainchild of Rob Edwards, creator of the all-aluminum Spyder Creations 550 Spyder, and Dr. Jack Gish, one of the Northeast's most interesting Porsche collectors. Read about the event, see our pictures and watch the video.
Porsche 918 Spyder First Non-Convertible To Be Named Robb Report's "Best of the Best" Convertible. 1 |
While the 918 has received multiple accolades from the automotive and mainstream press, it hasn't won
much in the way of "awards", yet. Last week, the Robb Report announced the 918 Spyder as their winner in the 2014 Best of the Best Convertible contest. The fact that the 918 isn't technically a convertible didn't seem to matter. It was that good. I'd say we should be seeing many more awards to follow.

Did Porsche ever make a Boxster ClubSport? Nope, but we're going to. In this new multi-part series FLATSIXES.com's associate editor, Bradley Brownell, chronicles his experiences with a new to him 1997 Boxster. Why did he choose this particular Porsche?
What are his plans? What will it cost? All this in more is detailed in this and upcoming installments. Even better, so much of what he experiences, and the fixes/mods he makes, apply to lots of other Porsches besides his Boxster. Enjoy Part 1.
