Learn More About Porsche's Little Known LMP 2000 Project
|
In 1998 Porsche was the overall winner
at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Despite that prestigious victory their 911 GT1 was less than competitive in every other race that season. Faced with increasing competition our favorite marque planned a break from racing in 1999 with the intent to return in 2000 with a new and spectacular race car dubbed the LMP 2000. In this post we take a dive into the detailed history put together by Karl Ludvigsen in Porsche: Excellence Was Expected. Read our post to learn more about one of
Porsche's closest kept secrets and how this mothballed race car influenced the Carrera GT.

Two-Seven-Seven, the red, white, and blue 1971 has almost become as famous as its owner, the dreadlocked and bearded Californian née Brit, Mr. Magnus Walker. Merdad-Tuned Cayenne Checks Into London Elizabeth Hotel, Doesn't Check Out
|
I can only assume this tuned Porsche Cayenne was stolen when it crashed into the side of London's Elizabeth Hotel. After the Cayenne's unexpected "check-in" the driver fled the scene out of what
we can only assume is embarrassment or fear of jail time. Click the picture above, or here, for the full story and more pictures of what happened when the driver of this Cayenne ran out of talent, grip and real estate all at the same time. |
