Did You Miss The Premier Of The Porsche 911 Targa?

Last week we sent out our newsletter a
day early to remind you to watch the World Premier of the new Porsche 911 Targa. Did you watch it? If you missed it, don't worry, we have the whole thing for you on YouTube. The premier was one of the most spectacular of the show and the press haven't stopped talking about the slick operation of the new 911's Targa top. So, click the image above, or here to watch the premier yourself. Or, if you would rather jump right into specs, pictures, prcing or operation of the new Targa top itself, we have a list of links and posts for you below.

This Is How The Spectacular New 911 Targa Top Works
|
While the graphic above gives you an
idea of how this new marvel of Porsche technology works, you really need to see it in motion for yourself to truly appreciate how the Targa top functions. Fortunately for you, we took video at Porsche's booth and created this clip
showing the Targa's operation (we even added a slow motion component so you can see just what's involved in getting the top to stow away). While it looks complex, it's actually very similar to the function of the current cabriolet (uses 90% of the same parts) and creates a much nicer profile in my opinion. See for yourself.

Exploring The Porsche 911 GT1 In More Detail: Video
|
The video in this post comes courtesy of the EVOTV YouTube
channel. evo Magazine's Henry Catchpole was able to drive a Porsche 911 GT1 straßenversion at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone. While he doesn't really get to put the GT1 through its paces, what he does do is a good job of explaining and describing what makes the GT1 so incredible. The GT1 is a Porsche that most will never get to
experience personally so this video may just be the closest many of us will ever get.

Jerry Seinfeld's 1949 356/2 Gmünd Featured On "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee"
|
Are you watching Jerry Seinfeld's web series "Comedians in Cars Getting
Coffee"? If not, you should be. According to the show's own description, it's an American comedy web series. The series is broadcast on the internet only (via its web-site and via the Crackle digital network). Episodes follow a format of Jerry introducing
a vintage car (often times a Porsche like the Gmünd in this episode), picking up the guest comedian (fellow gear-head Jay Leno in this show) and taking them to have coffee or to a restaurant. The show premiered back in July of 2012 and we've been hooked ever since. Not only do we love Jerry's understated comic genius, his love of Porsches (and other cars) comes through in each episode. Learn more about Jerry's 356/2 in this episode. |
