Porsche LMP1 with video play button
Talked about for what seems like forever and officially launched in June on the Porsche test track in Weissach, the new Porsche LMP1 racing car is being put through its paces in test drives on international circuits. These rounds of "functional tests" give Porsche a wealth of data and provide their chosen drivers opportunity for seat time in the new race car.
Watch as 3 Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs are Wrecked at the Start of the Baltimore Grand Prix
I don't know how many of you have seen this video yet, but I've never seen anything like it.  Not much to say as the video speaks for itself.  Here's hoping that Baltimore isn't on the schedule next year, or if it is that the track gets reconfigured significantly.   Click here , or the image above, to watch the video and read about what happened.

Meet Guy Newmark - the Man whose "million-mile Porsche" was Stolen and Then Recovered by the Internet
Guy Newmark's Million Mile Porsche
In June Petrolicious introduced us to the "Million Mile Porsche". Then, in mid-August, we told you how  the same Porsche was stolen from its garage and how the internet helped to recover it. The video in this post introduces us to Guy Newmark, the man who's been driving this wonderful 356 for the last 45 years and gives us a better look at his remarkable 356.

Watch This Race Between a Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0 and a 2014 991 GT3
The new 991 based GT3 produces 475 horsepower, weighs 3153 lbs and uses a new beefed-up PDK transmission to launch it off the line.  The 997 GT3 RS 4.0 produces 500 horsepower, weighs about 40lbs more than the 991 version and puts power to the ground via a manual transmission. This video shows an acceleration comparison between the two from standstill through the gears. These slight differences make for a pretty close match-up and the new GT3s launch control should even things out. Click the image above or here to watch the video to see just how close these two are.
Listen to the Cacophony This 918 Spyder Makes as it Switches from Electric Only to Gas Power
Jay Leno driving a Porsche 918
This episode of Jay Leno's Garage features Jay and a Porsche 918 at the Quail Lodge during our visit to Monterey.  Jay spends a few minutes interviewing the man in charge of the 918 project - Frank Walliser - and then takes the 918 out for a spin.  While I didn't find any revelations in the video, we do get the chance to hear the 918 switch from all electric drive to full combustion mode.  The resulting noise is just delightful.

Our Visit to Monterey in Pictures (the Concours, Historic Races and Auctions).
FLATSIXES.COM spent three glorious days in Monterey last week and lived to tell about it.  Click the image above, or here, to view our gallery of 100+ pictures and read our report on the weekend's highlights and our experience.
