Over the years we've seen Porsches wrapped in everything from gold to chocolate. We've even seen a Porsche 964 covered in real Tweed (but it was in a museum). This marks the first time we've seen a road going Porsche, of any kind, wrapped in a material just begging you to "stroke it". "What is that, velvet?" Turns out it actually is.

 Porsche 959 Sets New Sales Record during the RM Auction Don Davis Collection Event

Just last month we wondered if any of the 10 Porsches from the Don Davis Collection would set records when they crossed the auction block. This past Saturday we found out. According to RM Auctions the entire event was a resounding success achieving more than $21 million with 100% of the lots sold. Out of that group, 10 Porsches were sold for a combined $2,483,250.

Just last week Maria Sharapova was named as Porsche's first "brand ambassador" in a three year deal linking the tennis sensation to our favorite marque. With Sunday's win at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, in the sold-out Porsche Arena, it's obvious that the 26-year-old Russian beauty takes her new role seriously. Beating China's Na Li in straight set 6-4, 6-3 Sharapova successfully defended the title she won last year adding another trophy to her collection as well as a Porsche Carrera 4S Cabriolet to go with the Carrera S she won last year.
