A PORSCHE FAN'S GUIDE TO THE ROLEX 24 HOURS AT DAYTONA

PORSCHE AT DAYTONA
While Porsche has the same pair of factory-entered cars in the GTLM category this year, the story is completely different in the GTD class. In fact, with last year's Daytona winners, Alegra Motorsports, moving to Pirelli World Challenge, CORE Autosport moving up to the Prototype category, and TRG dropping out of the series altogether, there are a lot fewer Porsche entrants than Daytona has seen in recent memory.  However, there's still hope for podium.

VIC ELFORD TO SPEAK AT THE BLACKHAWK MUSEUM IN MARCH

BLACK HAWK VIC ELFORD
We first saw the announcement for this show during the first week in January. Since then, the museum has removed information about the event. We're not quite sure what's going on, but once we get in-touch with someone, we'll update the post. For now, we found this video.  It's a recording of the last time Vic gave this presentation in 2016. For those that don't live in the Bay Area, this might be even better!

DID YOU KNOW THAT PORSCHE DESIGNED THE WORLD'S TALLEST FERRIS WHEEL?

PORSCHE 996 GT3
F.A. Porsche Design has put their pen to paper for just about every industry we can think of. We've featured gondolas, lugesmilitary vehiclesski lifts and much, much more. This, however, is the first Ferris Wheel we know of.

THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO STAY UP ON WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE ROLEX 24 HOURS OF DAYTONA

Porsche 956
For long endurance races like this one, Twitter can be an invaluable source of information. Not only can Twitter provide an up-to-the-minute view of what's happening in the race, it can connect you with intimate details and insight from the drivers and teams themselves.  In fact, we know of no other way to stay as closely and accurately informed about what's happening in the Porsche world before, during and after the race (even if you were at the event itself) than through the "Twittersphere".

THE FLAME SPITTING SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF A PORSCHE 935

flame throwing 935
Not many people know this fact, but Porsche actually built a series of flamethrowers in the 1970s and '80s that were strangely shaped like 911 race cars. With each lift off the throttle pedal, a 935 will pop flames from the exhaust outlet.

THE YELLOWBIRD'S GREENER SIBLING TO BE AUCTIONED AT RM SOTHEBY'S PARIS

RUF CTR
In 1987 RUF stunned the Porsche world with the introduction of "Yellow Bird". Based on a then current 911 the RUF CTR was capable of speeds up to 211 MPH, impressive even today.

GERMANY'S ANSWER TO THE MUSCLE CAR QUESTION IS THE 928

928 MUSCLE CAR
We've been saying for years that a 944 or 928 can go a million miles with proper maintenance. If you buy one that someone has neglected, and continue to neglect it, you'll be in for a world of financial hurt. If you keep it up, however, a 928 can be your best friend.

DOMINIC DOBSON'S 962 BURNS AT LE MANS

FLAMING 962
When your race car catches on fire at 110+ MPH and melts the brake lines, it's hard to think straight, but that's exactly what you want to do if you want to live. This is the story of Dominic Dobson and how he survived when he probably shouldn't have.

WATCH THIS 911 GT3 RALLY CAR AS IT LITERALLY FLYS THROUGH THE WOODS

WHY THE 911 IS CALLED THE 911
I feel for right-seaters in rally cars, I really do, especially on gravel. Even while reading the pace notes, they are completely at the mercy of the driver. On this test route, the person in the navigator's position appears to be simply acting as ballast.
