The modern PDK program can be traced back to the 956 and 962 sports cars of the 1980s, but it really came of age in 2009 when Porsche first introduced the 7-Speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). At that point, the industry viewed it as a game changer. The quick-shifting original 7-Speed PDK, which debuted in the 997,
shared much of its architecture with the contemporary 7-Speed manual. This new 8-speed PDK transmission, developed for the Panamera, combines the original system's extremely fast shifts with improved packaging, a higher torque ceiling and an additional gear for the next generation of cars and fuel efficiency.

911 TURBO S TIES FOR 1ST PLACE IN THE ROBB REPORT USA 2017 CAR OF THE YEAR |
The Robb Report has been publishing their "Car of the Year" awards for 15-years now. In all that time, there has never been a tie, until now. This year, the event was not only judged by a familiar group of automotive panelists, but by millions of "automotive aficionados" as well. Editors at the Robb Report
decided to open the voting to the general public via RobbReport.com and social media. While the online votes held some sway, the final decision was ultimately left to the judges.

IT'S OFFICIAL. THIS IS YOUR 2017 FACTORY LMP1 DRIVER LINE-UP |
Last December Porsche told us all about their new factory drivers. What they didn't confirm was who would be assigned where. We could pretty much guess, but it wasn't official. Besides, with Webber out and Ferrari's (now Porsche's) Bruni stuck in GT cars it seemed like things were fluid. Well,
they're rock solid now.

ULTIMATE ECONOMY SHOWDOWN: PANAMERA TURBO S E-HYBRID VS. FORD FIESTA
SE |
To the majority of buyers fuel economy is every bit as important as any other measure of performance. Unlike, say, the 1970s, we live in an era where economical driving and performance need not be mutually exclusive. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most powerful Panamera to date. Through the wonders of
modern technology this 680hp super-sedan offers a 55 MPGe rating, which is superior to all of Toyota's ever-popular hybrid models save the Prius Prime and the new Mirai. How then does the Panamera stack up to a conventional economy car? To find out we bought a 2016 Ford Fiesta.

CHECK OUT THE 901 COLLECTION: WATCHES MADE FROM SALVAGED AIRCOOLED 911S |
A good watch should be timeless. It should look at home on your wrist year-in and year-out. Like a good watch, the 911 is a vehicle beyond the vagaries of seasonal fashion. After more than fifty years, the car has remained true to its original ethos. REC Watches' latest Kickstarter is an endeavor to create a watch
based on parts from salvaged aircooled 911s. Each watch will be unique, their faces made from metal salvaged from these cars themselves.

STOP MOTION TEAR-DOWN OF CARRERA 3.2 ENGINE IS WORTH A 2ND WATCH |
It's hard to believe it's been almost 4-years since this video first debuted, but it has. Back in July of 2013 the team behind this wizardry mesmerized a large number of Porsche fans with their incredibly detailed stop-motion video of a Porsche Carrera 3.2 liter engine being torn down. Last week Porsche introduced "9:11 Magazine" and promised to entertain us with "useful information about everything related to Porsche". Featured as part of this newest episode is a re-cut of the stop motion video we introduced to you nearly 4-years ago. Gone are
some of the quirky overlays and Porsche has edited the original film to an even higher quality (hard to believe) than the original.
