THESE ARE JUST 5 OF THE AMAZING PORSCHES YOU'LL SEE AT THE WERKS REUNION ON AMELIA ISLAND THIS WEEKEND |
The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is just about upon us. In fact, here on the island, the transports and cars are already arriving at the same time as the auction tents are going up. Things are taking shape and the excitement is building. One of the new events this year is the Porsche Club of America's "Werks
Reunion". Since 2014 the event was held on the west coast as part of the annual Car Week on California’s Monterey Peninsula in August. Having lost their regular west coast venue, the PCA added an east coast version at the Omni Amelia Island Resort for 2017.

THESE ARE THE TOP 5 MOTORSPORT TECHNOLOGIES THAT HAVE TRANSFERRED TO ROAD CARS ACCORDING TO PORSCHE |
Every Porsche has a strong connection to the brand's motorsports history, even if not all have been used in competition. The advances Porsche makes in motorsports frequently make their way to the brand's road cars, and often quickly. The racing variant of the 356 introduced a fully synchronized gearbox in 1951, and the
technology appeared in the road car within a year. Intercooling came to road cars thanks to the 917 Can-Am car. We've discussed the technological connection between Porsche road and racing cars before. In Porsche's latest Top 5 video Walter Röhrl breaks down the connection between the street and the racetrack.

PORSCHE CARS CANADA SALES BY MODEL: FEBRUARY 2017 |
THE SILENCE INSIDE THE PORSCHE FACTORY IS DEAFENING |
It's striking how quiet the Porsche factory is. During engine assembly the loudest sound seems to be the gentle clatter of the machine which sets the pistons into the ring compressor. Even the chain hoists operate with a near silent "tick-tick-tick" as the chains move over the rollers. Six decades ago, when the 356 was in production, the Porsche factory was a noisy place. Bodies were hammered out within view of engine assembly. The ceilings were low, and the brick buildings were natural echo chambers. For decades
Porsche manufacturing didn't stray far from this model.

It seems like only yesterday that the dynamic duo of Patrick Long and Jörg Bergmeister were taking one checkered flag after another as pilots for Flying Lizard Motorsports. When, in fact, the two haven't raced a full-season together since 2012. Today, however, Wright Motorsport confirmed they are bringing the two back
together again in a Porsche 911 GT3 R to contest the five-round Pirelli World Challenge SprintX championship.

For all intents and purposes, and despite Porsche's best efforts, the details of the new 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 were leaked ahead of the press conference scheduled in Geneva. Yes, the new 991.2 GT3 was the third model we were waiting to hear about and the details show that it is everything we asked for after the last GT3 was released with PDK only.
