OUR FAVORITE PORSCHES ON EBAY: VOLUME 77

Image
For 2+ years we've been publishing "Our Favorite Porsches on eBay" as a bi-weekly and then weekly installment.  Over the past month, we took a break (due to vacations and a lack of interesting listings over the holidays).  It turns out a lot of you didn't like it.  Many, many of you wrote in asking when we would return. Well, it's back and will be back, every other week, for the foreseeable future.

This week's mix is a collection of a forced induction bargain, one of the cheapest 911s we could find, an air-cooled cabriolet whose pricing we're unsure of, an Outlaw that might be just a bit too personalized and an off-roading machine we're curious to watch and see if it becomes collectible. Keep in mind, some of these Porsches could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

NFL PLAYER BRANDON MARSHALL LOSES BET, KEEPS PORSCHE CHARITY BIG WINNER!

Racing for pinks is one thing, playing football for pinks is another thing, entirely. In July, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall began a friendly bet. Whoever ended the season with more receiving yards would get the other's car.

PORSCHE'S 2016 WORLDWIDE SALES BY THE NUMBERS

At this point, no one should be surprised that Porsche's 2016 numbers were stellar. However, what is surprising is just how much they relied on the Macan to hit those numbers.

PORSCHE AND IRACING. TWO OF THE WORLD'S BEST TOGETHER AT LAST

IRACING AND PORSCHE
If you've been following along here on FLATSIXES.com then you know that video game maker Electronic Arts lost their exclusive hold on Porsche at the end of 2016. Their loss is our gain. Assetto Corsa has already released three new Porsche packs covering some 20+ models (both production and racing). Now, for a New Year's treat, comes word that the world's most winning manufacturer in sports car racing is coming to one of the world's most respected racing simulators, iRacing.

918 RECALLED, AGAIN, FOR FRONT CONTROL ARM ISSUES

918 SPYDER RECALLED
For the second time in two years the 918 Spyder is being recalled due to issues with the front control arms. The last recall took place in December of 2014 and affected 39 918 Spyders. The current recall affects 306, which some sources believe may be the entirety of the US allotment. It is unclear if the two issues are the same, or simply similar.

THE LAST TURN - PHOTOGRAPHIC FORENSICS

Having spent decades taking Porsche photos, Leonard Turner's archive is massive. And while each image is accompanied by meticulous notes, he occasionally comes across a photo that's lacking context or complete detail. This is one such photo. Fortunately, a photo like this holds a lot of clues.  In this installment of "The Last Turn", Leonard lists 6-facts he gleaned from this photo. Did he miss more obvious ones? Can you help point out others?

PCNA's SALES BY MODEL: DECEMBER 2016 AND YTD

2016 went out with a bang for PCNA in total sales. However, other than one model line, sales were down year-over-year for all others.

While a Porsche can indeed climb a ski slope, leaving your car at the top in order to ski down is less than ideal. Thankfully Porsche has a solution. Among their wide portfolio of projects, Porsche Design Studio is responsible for ski lifts and an Olympian's sled. Among their more recent winter creations is a modern Gondola with extremely large windows for taking in the vistas.

MAKING A DEAL: HOW TO GET THE MOST FOR YOUR 911 PURCHASE

Image
Don't let the name of this video fool you. It's not a traditional "Buyer's Guide" that points out what to watch out for when purchasing a used 911. Instead, this video focuses more on "how to buy a used Porsche". In other words, what are the best tools to locate a car? What should you look for with regard to options? And most importantly, how to negotiate? Focusing heavily on buying from a dealer, there's some obvious and not so obvious advice dispensed here.

THIS IS WHAT AN UPDATED 917 COULD LOOK LIKE

PORSCHE 917 X HYBRID
Most of you know that the Porsche 917 is the race car that afforded our favorite marque their first overall Le Mans victory in 1970 and then their second in 1971. From there, the 917 went on to become one of the most iconic race cars the world over due in no small part to its power, speed and winning record (and Porsche went on to become the most winning manufacturer in the history of Le Mans). Today, the 917 is revered by fans and collectors the world over. Given its incredible popularity, could it ever make a comeback?

WATCH LEH KEEN TEAR THROUGH THE SNOW IN HIS 911 SAFARI

Image
Leh Keen seems destined to break the internet, at least as it relates to clips on insane 911 driving. Just last month we watched him pick up the Christmas tree in a way most 911s never will. The year before that it was his "Fu-Keen' Christmas card along with numerous videos showing his rain driving skillspassing capabilities and overall awesomeness regardless of what he's driving.

SAVE THE DATE - LUFTGEKÜHLT 4 IN 2017

lufgekuhlt 3 photo by Brett Sloan for FLATSIXES.com
It's hard to believe that this Spring will bring us the fourth iteration of Patrick Long and Howie Idelson's now iconic Porsche car show, Luftegkühlt. Can a car show become "iconic" after just 3 previous gatherings? Here at FLATSIXES.com, we think so. Initially branded as a series of "automotive-themed events featuring a tightly-curated list of historically significant or interesting cars – both race and street" Luftgekühlt has quickly become a cult of all things air-cooled. Last week, Long and Idelson announced the date for their latest show, Luftgekühlt 4, and not much else.
