Ellen DeGeneres' love of Porsche may not be as well known as that of Jerry Seinfeld's, but that all changed last week during a short segment on her show.  In fact, she kicked things off with a joke where she said, "I love Porsches so much I married one." Obviously, the spelling is a bit different, but the feelings are the same.  She then proceeded to introduce her audience to the new Porsche Experience Center in Carson, CA where she took us all on a comprehensive tour while torturing her long-time producer Andy Lassner. Poor Andy had a tough go of it on the track. I'm sure the layers and layers of Porsche branded clothing she stuffed him in didn't help. While the segment is probably a paid placement by Porsche, it does an excellent job of showing what the new PEC is all about and the fun that can be had. 

Like any professional team, Porsche spends a considerable amount of time, money and effort on player driver development. As you never know where the next Hurley Haywood will come from, Porsche starts early and developed a motorsport pyramid to help identify and nurture new talent.

We get lots of questions from readers wondering if they can "afford" a Porsche? Usually, they're referring to the actual purchase price. The initial expense of purchasing a Porsche, or any car for that matter, is just the first factor of many in determining its "affordability". Most of you know Larry of AMMO NYC as the go-to-guy for detailing hi-end sports cars. More importantly, for all of us, Larry's also a HUGE Porsche fan. His personal car is a 964 C4 and through his work and experience has become quite knowledgeable about our favorite marque. In today's video Larry starts out with the intent of documenting the detailing process of a very rare Porsche 964 C4 Lightweight - 1 of only 22 ever produced. However, after taking his paint meter to the car, Larry quickly realizes if he polished this Porsche he could do more harm than good. Instead, what we get is a short little lesson that details a time in Porsche's history where the company was doing all they could to stay alive and cars like the Porsche 964 C4 Lightweight were the result.

When Porsche returned to Le Mans racing Audi was there with a video welcome that set the stage for their upcoming rivalry on the track.  Now, with Audi having announced their departure from the highest levels of sports car racing, Porsche returned the favor in way that is pure class. 

Older Boxsters are becoming more and more affordable from an acquisition standpoint. Good examples can easily be found in the $10 to $12k range. For those with patience, and a little luck, decent cars can still be had south of $10k. However, the question then becomes, just because you can afford to buy it, can you afford to maintain it? How do you go a full year owning a Porsche sports car and not call H&R for Sport Springs immediately? I wasn't convinced before, but after having put this set on our Project Boxster, I can't recommend them enough. This past April Porsche officially entered the "sharing economy" when they launched their Share a Porsche program in the Netherlands. To help kick-off their new program, Porsche ran a contest, aptly named "Porsche Marriage" where friends were asked to propose to one another, get engaged and if chosen by Porsche, get married.
