Porsche Classic Catalog
Produced in May 2016, this 93-page hardcover catalog is destined to be a desired tabletop addition for any Porschephile. The cover itself sports a handsome embossed sectional drawing of the iconic Type 547/1 engine that powered so many wins beginning in the 1950s. But that is just the cover, and the catalog contains so much more!

REVIEW OF PORSCHE DESIGN'S P'8478 SUNGLASSES

As a teenager growing up in the '80s one of my prized possessions was an original pair of Porsche Design folding sunglasses. I don't remember exactly where I got them, but they were a huge hit among my friends and I loved their big frame and the way they simply folded in half for storage. It was a very sad day in my home when I finally lost them. Since then, both my personal style and tastes have changed. What hasn't changed, however, is my preference for the classic aviator style sunglasses. So, when Porsche Design asked if we wanted to review their newest sunglasses, the P'8478, I jumped at the chance.

PORSCHE'S RESULTS, PICTURES AND VIDEO AT THE 12 HOURS OF SEPANG

Porsche just competed in their last race of the 2016 motorsport season at the 12 Hour race on the Sepang International Circuit. With two 911 GT3 Rs fielded by Manthey Racing and piloted by a crew of factory drivers Porsche was looking to end the season strong.

HAVE YOU BEEN PRONOUNCING PORSCHE WRONG?

We hear it all the time, even from the initiated, people butchering the pronunciation of the word Porsche.  You hear it on TV, at the garage, even at Cars and Coffee. Apparently, Porsche's been hearing it, too. Last week they released the video in this post to educate us, once and for all, on how to pronounce their name properly.

SOMEONE CREATED A GRAPHIC NOVEL FROM STEVE McQUEEN'S LE MANS

There are very few car-guy movies, particularly ones which are ostensibly fiction, which stand the test of time.Grand PrixBullitt, and Le Mans are in a small and exclusive club. Though not a commercial success when released in 1971, Le Mans has since been elevated to cult-classic status. Now, a new graphic novel rendition of the film, produced with cooperation from the ACO and Greenlight, came to life after McQueen visited its creator in a dream 3-years ago.

THE LAST TURN - BEATING CUBIC INCHES

Porsche 908 chasing
This is one of the more fitting pictures we've had from Leonard Turner as it was literally taken on the "last turn" during a race at Road Atlanta in 1970.  That's the sole Porsche entry, Tony Dean's 908, chasing down Vic Elford's much more powerful Chaparral. How did Dean and his little Porsche do against all that big American horsepower?

991.2 TURBO S vs. 718 BOXSTER S ACCELERATION COMPARISON

We agree this type of comparison seems a bit absurd at first. Then we watched the video. It's not as David vs. Goliath as you think. Published zero to 60 numbers are usually the results of tests in perfect conditions with professional drivers. But what about the rest of us in the real world?

Congratulations to ROBERT MAN of SANDY SPRINGS, GA. You've Won a 2017 Porsche Calendar and 1:43 Scale Mission E Courtesy of Driver's Selection!

We had a little over 200 correct entries to our contest (as well as 12 incorrect entries). Last week we chose one winner randomly (we assigned a number to each entry and then used a random number generator to pick one from the pool) and announced that winner in the newsletter. They had a week to respond and claim their prize.  WE NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. So, we used the random number generator and picked a new winner.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ROBERT MAN. Robert, to claim your prize you have until Sunday December 18, 2017 at 11:59 EST to contact us with your address and phone number (please use the same email address you sent your entry from so we know it's you). We'll then pass it along to Driver's Selection who will ship your prizes directly. In the event we don't hear from Robert, we'll pick an alternate winner and announce that person in next week's newsletter. Thanks to everyone for participating.

CAN YOU GO CAMPING IN A PORSCHE 914?

Kevin Lee has been a backpacker for many years and recently completed a 110 mile hike. To say he loves camping and hiking would be an understatement. However, he's admittedly lazy and it's the reason he started car camping. So, you can imagine his concern when he swapped his Lexus IS300 for an early '70s 914.  How would he possibly use this miniscule little Porsche to transport all the small luxuries he brings car camping (like a pillow and a frying pan)?
