Please support our sponsors: 6 Reasons To Subscribe To The Newest Print Publication about Porsche from Pete Stout
For nearly two decades Pete Stout has
been the 'voice on Porsche' to enthusiasts around the globe. First as the Editor-in-Chief of Excellence magazine and then, for the last three and half years, as the man responsible for the rebirth of the Porsche Club of America's Porsche Panorama magazine. Last July, when Pete quietly resigned his role at the PCA, many of you were left with a lot of unanswered questions. Perhaps, the questions we heard most often were, "Where will he go?" and "What's next?"
Besides a story on the latest 911 Turbo here at FLATSIXES.com, and a sporadic forum presence, to most people it looked like he disappeared. Today we can tell you why. Like Rodney Dangerfield, they don’t get no respect. Take the Iso Grifo, for instance. There is no book I'm aware of that shows every
variation, every color, every nut and bolt, every serial number, yadda yadda. Yet, fortunately because of their small numbers, they have multiplied greatly in value.
Now other marques are getting plenty of ink, like Porsches, but this latest book by Ryan Snodgrass sets the bar higher than ever on covering one Porsche model from A to Z and back again. That particular model is also
the book's title, Carrera 2.7. The Soul of Porsche’s Legendary Carrera 2.7 RS Lives on Within the Carrera 2.7

Mans Winner In 1950, at the Paris Auto Show, the organizers of the 24 hours of Le Mans invited the Porsche family to enter a car in the 1951 race. Porsche accepted and decided to use one of their left over aluminum bodied
Gmünd Coupes as their entry. In fact, they prepped four cars for testing with the intent to enter two cars in the 1951 race. The two Porsches that traveled to the race were the #46 and the #47 (both 1951 Porsche 356 SL Gmünd Coupes). While #47 crashed during night practice and never officially entered the race, #46 went on to win its class and finish 20th overall. It was sold into private hands nearly immediately after. This is the story of how it lived in plain sight for nearly 50 years before its true provenance was revealed and restored to its former glory. OTHER POSTS YOU MAY ENJOY
Meet "The Unicorn" - Hoonigan's Honda-Powered 911 The Hoonigan folks
are a little on the crazy side with some of their builds. If you've watched any videos they've produced, they have some monster high-horsepower cars with wide bodies and giant wheels. Often, the end result is almost a caricature of the car it is based upon. In this instance, however, the car itself looks rather subdued. Yes, this 911 has an RSR-style front bumper, it has wide flares, and the rear decklid has a big wing on it, but as a performance build these days it looks rather
subdued. When you open the decklid, however, everything changes. Innovative or abomination? You decide... While there, the conversation obviously gravitated toward the car we were both there to test drive. For the most part, we had very similar opinions of the car. It drives like a dream. It's
faster, more comfortable, and more technologically advanced than the car it replaces. At certain angles, it even looks better than the 981 generation car (especially the Cayman). Where we disagreed, however, was the sound. Matt says he
doesn't mind the sound of the new turbocharged flat four, likening it to the engine note of a new Subaru WRX. The great thing about this One Take video, however, is that at 20-minutes long, you can decide for yourself if you like the sound the car makes. OTHER POSTS YOU MAY ENJOY
Unintended Oversteer: Porsche Macan Anti-Roll Bar
Recall Porsches have a reputation for tail-happy behavior. Of course that reputation is largely thanks to the rear-engined
placement in their sports cars and under skilled or over-confident drivers. By contrast, Porsche's SUVs have proven swift, stable and very predictable handlers. A recent recall announcement shows that some Macans are affected by an issue with the sway bar links which can cause them to move out of position, causing unpredictable oversteer characteristics. Here's what you need to know.
