How Will Adam Carolla Pay For The $4.8MM 935 He Bought at Auction Last Month?

By now, most of you know that comedian, and CarCast podcast co-host, Adam Carolla was the winning bidder of Paul Newman's Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 last month in Monterey. It's a beautiful and historically important piece of Porsche history that took a class victory at Le Mans in 1979 (2nd overall) and went on to win the Daytona 24 Hour race in 1981 and the Sebring 12 Hour race in 1983. Adding to its already incredible provenance is the fact that this particular 935 was at one time known as the infamous "Apple Car" and that the few wins mentioned above are but a small part of its considerable history. Combine all that with its impeccable condition and it's easy to understand how it sold for $4,840,000. Now he has to pay for it. Here's how he plans on doing so!

Our Favorite Porsches on eBay: Volume 70
We've been compiling some amazing Porsche models on eBay for over two years now, and we've seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. We recently started publishing our picks once a week instead of our prior bi-weekly schedule, in an effort to bring you more exciting Porsche auction action. Check back often for different cars! This week we have a good diversity of selections. A newer C4S Cabriolet that we've been watching, a Targa C4S that surprises us with how well the color combo works, a Safari donor SC, a "hulking" race car and 914 Bumblebee that looks incredible but desperately calls for a PPI. Keep in mind, some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

The Last Turn - The Last Air Cooled Turbos
The "last of the air-cooled". It's a phrase that means different things to different Porsche fans.  To some it's an obsession. To others a dream.  For Porsche photographer Leonard Turner it was a chance to set-up a cover shot like none other and a trip to a famed track to boot. Learn more about Leonard's introduction to the 993 Turbo during his 1995 trip when the press was introduced to the first cars that ended an era

Reader's Ride: R-Gruppe Backdate: The Stealth G-Series
There is an old VW Beetle ad from the mid 1960s which shows a Beetle with multi-colored body panels. The text of the ad goes on to explain that one fender is from a '58, another from a '64, and the hood and door are from a '59 and a '62 Beetle respectively. VW was very proud to be fashion-immune, and as such parts were easy to find. As the 911 stemmed from the same family tree, it was susceptible to the same immunity to fashion and fads. FLATSIXES.com reader Charles Stanley's '85 Porsche 911 may technically be a G-Series car, but thanks to an aggressive backdate it'd be hard to tell at first glance.

Porsche Stories From Around The Web
Despite our best efforts, it's not always possible for us to cover everything that's happening in the world of Porsche at any given time. It's almost as if the items worthy of note increase at some exponential rate as compared to the number of new Porsche owners and fans.  With that in mind here's a round-up of other Porsche related stories you might find of interest.  If you read a story somewhere, or know of one you think might be of interest to our readers, please be sure to let us know by sending a tip to storyideas@flatsixes.com
