The First Porsche at Indianapolis
With the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 in the history books we thought it only fitting to look back at the first Porsche to participate in the race. Oddly enough, it wasn't a factory backed effort. Instead, it was a privateer entry known as the Stein-Porsche Twin.  Learn more about this unique, twin-engined Indy 500 entry in this post

Our Favorite Porsches on eBay: Volume 52
You spoke, we listened. Enough of you have said how much you like this section that instead of publishing our eBay picks every other week, we're going to try a weekly format with two of us making the picks. This week, we've tracked down five more exciting Porsches for you nice people to purchase today, all of the 993 flavor. There's everything from what may be the bargain of the century, if you're willing to take a risk, to an Andial built 993 that would fit nicely in any air-cooled collection, to everything in between. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

What's Your Favorite Porsche Car Chase Scene?
The weather was a bit mixed this Memorial Day weekend so I found myself surfing around on YouTube a bit more than I wanted to be.  Having just looked at an older post about the best movie ever made involving a Porsche I took the logical jump over to car chase scenes involving a Porsche. What I found was the clip you can see here from "Against All Odds". It's a great little chase scene and it got me to thinking, what's your favorite Porsche chase scene and why? Watch the clip we picked and then let us know your thoughts in the comments

The Last Turn - Porsche at Indy
In keeping with our Indy theme, Leonard Turner dug into his archives to pull out the image above.  It's proof of Porsche's attempt at open-wheel racing in America and their recognition of the importance of Indy Car racing.  This is the 1st in a 2-part series from Leonard's incredible archives

30-Minute Documentary on John Wyer's Gulf Team is a Must Watch for any 917 Fan
This 33-minute film documents the JWA-Gulf team's very successful 1970 season, with wins at Daytona, Brands Hatch, Monza, the Targa Florio, Spa-Francorchamps, Watkins Glen and the Österreichring. In addition to a wonderful selection of cars that reads like a who's-who of classic sports car racing, notable drivers such as Jo Siffert, Pedro Rodriguez and Brian Redman make appearances. 24 Hour Nürburging Report
This weekend there was a lot of important racing going on. I'm sure if you follow motorsport, you probably knew about the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, or NASCAR's Coca Cola 600. Unless you were really paying attention, one of the coolest races of the year might have slid under your radar in the shadow of those Memorial Day Weekend classics: the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. We won't give anything away here. But once you click through you'll immediately know where Porsche placed, plus see their photos and video.

R Gruppe Treffen Special Report
Earlier this year we met up with a few members of the R Gruppe, and the conversation turned to their annual gathering, known as "Treffen". Treffen is a German verb meaning "to meet", so the name makes sense. We've always been enamored with the R Gruppe ethos, so we asked if it might be alright if we were to attend as a guest. A quick conversation among the council of elders, and our invitation was secured. If you're not familiar with the R Gruppe, they are an interesting assemblage of early 911 (and other air-cooled Porsche model) owners, that are interested in an amalgam of pure and simple enthusiasm, "Steve McQueen Cool" as well as vintage "Porsche Sports Purpose" equipment. R Gruppe is limited at any given time to only 300 members, and each of them are burdened to prove that their car stands apart from the crowd of "regular" vintage air-cooled cars. Here's what it was like to be part of this small and interesting Gruppe for the weekend

Porsche Stories From Around The Web
Despite our best efforts, it's not always possible for us to cover everything that's happening in the world of Porsche at any given time. It's almost as if the items worthy of note increase at some exponential rate as compared to the number of new Porsche owners and fans.  With that in mind, from time to time, we'll bring you a round-up of other Porsche related stories you might find of interest and link you to them.  If you read a story somewhere, or know of one you think might be of interest to our readers, please be sure to let us know by sending a tip to storyideas@flatsixes.com
