Only 2-Days Left To Help Make This Documentary About Brumos Racing, Hurley Haywood and Peter Gregg A Reality
Since we first told you about the story in this post, more than one hundred of you have stepped up and contributed to the cause. By doing so you've helped to bring the film-makers more than half way to their goal. While we are in no way affiliated with this
production, it's a story we would love to see brought to the screen (big or little). If you haven't yet done so, take a look at the description below and consider making a contribution (big or small) so Porsche fans everywhere can see this story told.
One of the greatest teams in sports car racing history was an unstoppable duo, drivers Hurley Haywood and Peter Gregg won races together for a decade before tragedy struck.
Hurley Haywood was just a college kid in 1969 when Peter Gregg recognized his talent and took him under his wing. Just a few years later, Haywood and Gregg won the 1973 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring back-to-back. But this early success was just the beginning. Nicknamed “Batman and Robin” by the racing press, the Brumos Porsche duo went on to win world championship races together
for nearly a decade. Fame and fortune followed the men. They lived seemingly perfect lives. But beneath the thrill and glamour of racing is a humanity that is often overlooked or misunderstood.
This documentary feature film will
give a never-before-seen look at the private lives of legendary drivers Hurley Haywood and Peter Gregg and provide new perspective on their meteoric rise to fame while attempting to find meaning in the untimely death of Peter Gregg. The film is close to completion but there is still more work to be done. Here's how you can help bring it to the big screen and maybe even score a chance to be in the film
yourself. Related Porsche Blog Posts You'll

The Last Turn - When Porsches Flew
Mention Porsche to any of your friends, and their minds will immediately travel to land-going vehicles, most likely high end sports cars. But there have been a lot of other products. Ever the venturesome company,
Porsche early on produced a number of industrial and aircraft versions of their flat four engines and, in 1959, successfully powered a small two-seat airplane with an engine that had been converted to dry sump oiling and dual ignition. There was even an engine designed to run vertically that was used by an American company to power an experimental one man military helicopter; not knowing this, Leonard Turner was amazed to find the engine above in the air museum attached to the Pensacola Naval
base some years ago. And then there were the sixes. Here's a brief history of Porsche's aviation history. Related Porsche Blog Posts You'll

Watch The Unbelievable Slides & Drifts Of These Early
911s
Drifting a 911, at least intentionally drifting one, is a recent phenomenon. We have TV shows like "Top Gear" and YouTube channels
like /DRIVE to thank for it. I mean what would a 911 video review be these days if Chris Harris wasn't getting the back-end loose around a corner and hooning it up for the YouTube faithful? However, depending on what generation you come from, many of you may not know that "drifting" and "sliding" was the norm back in the '60s and '70s when, what are now, classic 911s took to the track for racing event. 911s of that era were notoriously tail happy and had none of today's improved suspension,
aerodynamics and electronic nannies to keep the cars tight to the track. Fortunately, events like The John Aldington Trophy race, named after the Max Hoffman of the U.K., show today's Porsche enthusiast just what racing was like back in the late '60s. Watch this short video and see for
