What We're Reading This Week
The past few weeks have seen a number of new Porsche books in our mailbox as publishers are racing to get the shelves stocked prior to the holiday. We're doing our best to work through them and Randy Leffingwell's Porsche Turbo: The Inside Story of Stuttgart's Turbocharged Road and Race Cars is our current distraction of choice. In a style we've become accustom to when looking through Randy's work, Porsche Turbo is exhaustively researched, lavishly filled with the author's own photos and those from the Porsche archives, and filled with the kind of knowledge and interesting trivia that us Porsche nerds collect and cherish as zealously as our own cars.  Published by Motorbooks, Porsche Turbo is available on Amazon.com starting at $32.70 plus shipping.

For many of you in southern California, the scenery in reader Tim Topp's photo might look familiar.  His 2011 997 Meteor Gray GTS is parked at mile marker 46 along the Angeles Crest Highway. For those of you not familiar with this stretch of pavement, it is easily one of the best driving and touring roads in all of the U.S. If you ever find yourself in the LA area, be sure to head out over the San Gabriel mountains and check it out.

Most of you hadn't probably heard of DMG MORI until Porsche announced them as their exclusive "premier partner" for the 919 LMP1 team.  Even now, we don't know tons about them other then the fact that, amongst other things, they make some pretty cool specialty CNC machines. Take the one in this video for example.  Watch as it carves an incredibly detailed 919 Hybrid scale model from a solid block of aluminum.
