Is Porsche Pulling The Plug On Their Factory GTE-Pro Program?
There has been speculation for months that Porsche might pull the plug on their 2-car factory supported GTE-Pro efforts in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Most speculation focused on a move to a
mid-engined platform or a departure due to performance issues. However, there is likely no chance Porsche will move away from the venerable 911 in the near future and performance issues are a thing of the past as Porsche already locked up the Driver's Championship and is close to doing the same with the Manufacturer's Championship.
What about the costs associated with the emissions scandal that VW (Porsche's parent company), and now Porsche, find themselves embroiled in? Could that be enough to make Porsche pull out? One report we read says that just might be the straw the broke the camel's back. Here's what we know so far. Related Porsche Blog Posts You'll Enjoy!
Beauty From An Unexpected Place
I was reading through Jalopnik last week when a story popped up about a little shop in Wisconsin that makes the "best air-cooled Porsches you've never heard of". I thought to myself, "hmmm. I know a shop in
Wisconsin that makes incredible one-of-a-kind 911s. Mark White's Accumoto". Turns out that's exactly who Jalopnik was writing about. Even more ironically, we published a story about Mark's and Accumoto's work more than 18 months ago. Some of you may have already read it, but for those of you who are new to the site, or who might have missed it the first time, we thought you might want to see what all the noise is about. Porsche Passes Last Year's Total Sales With 2 Months Remaining
With two months remaining in the year Porsche is less than 10,000 deliveries away from breaking the 200,000 cars per year mark more than 2-years earlier than originally promised. As if that weren't enough,
they've already sold more cars in 2015 than they did in 2014 and they still have two months of deliveries to record. What countries showed the biggest increase? Who is Porsche's biggest single market? Those details and more in this post. Related Porsche Blog Posts You'll Enjoy! Does the location/setting of the picture above look familiar to you? Even if you're not from Los Angeles, most of us know the the iconic 6th street bridge in LA from watching Magnus Walker and
others race over it in every other Porsche video you see on YouTube these days. However, we're used to seeing it from above vs. below. That's where this photo was taken by reader Glenn Dabatos while driving his 2015 991 Carrera 4 GTS around LA. Glenn is an avid photographer (this shot was taken with a Leica Rangefinder) and he can't stop smiling while driving his Porsche. He went on to explain that the his 911 is a dream to drive around the canyons of Southern California or through the tunnels of downtown Los Angeles with all windows open and hear the engine screams echoing off the walls.
We want to thank everyone that has sent in pictures so far and we'll do our best to get them all published in time.
