Steve McQueen's Mistress' Porsche 911 For Sale At Auction
Why should you care that a car owned by McQueen's one time mistress is for sale? Simple, it was actually owned by McQueen (through his production company) and used during the production of his epic movie "Le Mans".  Gifted to model Elga Andersen at the wrap of production, this 911T is coming across the auction block at Christie's "The Exceptional Sale" in Paris next month. Here's a more detailed description and price estimate

Is The Porsche Cayman GT4 Better Than A 911?
That's the question that keeps getting asked over and over?  We've seen it debated on social media, we done so ourselves.  Motor Trend even took a stab at answering the question a few months ago.  Now, XCAR is the latest one to try answering a very vexing question.  Here's what they had to say.
Bryan Seller's Top 5 Moments of Rennsport Reunion V
So far, everything we've covered from Rennsport Reunion V has been from the viewpoint of a spectator.  In this latest installment from Bryan Sellers we learn what it was like to actually participate in this historic event from a professional driver's perspective.
Meet PCNA's New President & CEO, Klaus Zellmer
Two weeks ago, when Dr. Oliver Blume was named as Porsche AG's new Chairman, we learned that Detlev von Platen, Porsche Cars North America's (PCNA) CEO for the last seven years, would be taking a new role in Germany as the member of the Porsche Executive Board for Sales and Marketing. With Detlev's promotion came a big hole in Porsche's largest single market. That hole was recently filled when Porsche announce that Klaus Zellmer (48) was appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of PCNA. Learn more about Klaus in this post.

The Last Turn - The-Hole-In-The-Wall
Most race tracks, at least in the areas where fans sit, are surrounded by "catch fences". These catch fences are designed as the last line of defense between helpless spectators and dangerously deadly debris hurtling off the track during crashes and wrecks.  With that in mind, how do photographers get shots, like the one above, without all that fencing getting in the way? Even more interesting, back in the 70's (when this shot above was taken) cameras were mechanical, there was no such thing as auto-focus.  How were these shots captured? Leonard Turner answers both those questions, and more, in this week's installment The Last Turn, aptly named "The-Hole-In-The-Wall".

Reader Submitted Pictures
A Porsche 356 with a Whale Tail? Not quite, but we still appreciate the word play.  The picture above was sent to us by Grant and Kerrianne George.  They snapped this image of their '62 356B T6 while whale watching at Woolgoolga Headland along the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia.  Grant tells us the water tower features a life size mural of the whales that migrate along "this most picturesque coast line".

We want to thank everyone that has sent in pictures so far and we'll do our best to get them all published in time.   If you have a favorite Porsche picture (or video) you would like to share with other FLATSIXES.com readers simply email it to pictureoftheweek@flatsixes.com.

The Beauty Of Rennsport Reunion Distilled Into One Video
We sent our intrepid reporter, Bradley Brownell, to Rennsport Reunion V to provide coverage for the readers of FLATSIXES.com.  Along the way Bradley shot nearly 4,000 photos.   We sifted through those and presented you with about 300 or so of his best shots.  So, what do you do with the rest? In this case Bradley spent more time than you can imagine syncing those images with the video you see in this post.  What an epic event!

Learn how each watch face is hand-painted using a three strand squirrel hair brush and microscope in this post.

Dr. Josef Arweck Named Vice President Communications Porsche AG.
It's hard to keep track of all the personnel changes at Porsche AG in the wake of the VW diesel scandal. However, we're doing our best to let you know those that have the most impact on you directly and indirectly.  This week comes word of a promotion that impacts us more than you. However, by the very nature of this site and the way we get and share information, it does hit home for you too. Learn more about Dr. Josef Arweck's promotion in this post.
"Roger's Ride" Is A Tribute To A Fallen Friend Worth Watching
Randy Wells writes, "One of the things you can’t take with you when you pass on is your story. Like earthly possessions, it can define who you are. But a story does much more than that. It remains behind to show all the differences you've made in other people’s lives.

Roger Grago’s story did just that for two well-known California hot rod communities. Roger was president of the Volkswagen car club Der Kleiner Panzers (DKP II), which he helped resurrect in the 1970s. He also led the early Porsche 911 club R Gruppe in Southern California during its formative years in the 2000s.

In 2011, the R Gruppe Treffen in Monterey was named in honor of Roger. And in 2012, he received the GT award, the club’s highest honor for an R Gruppe car. Roger’s character exemplified the qualities most important to the club. Genuine, compassionate and honest, he placed the greater good above himself. If wealth can be measured in generosity, Roger was a very rich man. Sadly, he lost his four-year battle with brain cancer on December 21, 2014 at the age of 61.

None of us will take our possessions with us when we pass, but it’s good to know our story will make a difference in the lives of those we leave behind. The film below attempts to provide some of the ways that Roger touched so many. I’m truly humbled by the reception this film has received. With every view it brings Roger back to life for me. He was truly a great person."

Please take a moment to watch, enjoy and share and Roger's Ride!
