Behind The Scenes At Le Mans With Michelin
How many tires do you think Michelin brought with them to support their teams at Le Mans? How big was their paddock? How many tire engineers came along for the ride?  Did you know every single race tire is leased for the duration of the event rather than owned by the team using them?  Our own Roger Garbow traveled to Le Mans this year and he found the answers to all those questions, and much more, during a private, behind the scenes tour of Michelin's operations at Le Mans.
Do Porsche's PTV Plus, Sport Chrono and PDCC Option Really Make A Performance Difference?
Porsche has an alphabet soup of options available on the 911. Chassis control options include Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Porsche Sports Chrono Package and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC).  What does each one do?  How do they work together? Do they really make a difference in performance?  Check out this video of 3 Porsche 911s, each fitted with one, two or all three of these options, as they run identical laps to see which car performs best.

Long Layover? Drive A Porsche!
Back in 2013 Lufthansa and Porsche joined forces to chauffeur passengers between terminals and flights at the Frankfurt airport (similar to the arrangement Porsche has with Delta in certain US airports). Following that, they started offering a "Porsche First Class Excitement" option that allowed certain passengers to utilize their downtime by getting behind the wheel of a 911 or Panamera. This week, Porsche announced that Lufthansa is expanding their Porsche based offerings into Munich. More details in this post.
What We're Reading Right Now
Karl Ludvigsen just had his publisher ship us a copy of this book a few weeks ago. We're only about 1/2 way through and we can already tell you'll love it. It's a look at Porsche in a different light. How did he contribute to Germany's military might and how did he work in the environment imposed upon him? Nearly 300 pages long it's everything we've come to expect from Ludvigsen: richly research and well illustrated with more than 200 pictures and drawings. Get your copy on Amazon for $37.95.
Reader Submitted Pictures
This week's reader submitted photo isn't a photo at all. Instead, it's a great little video made by FLATSIXES.com reader Barrett Loose and his love for his '89 Targa.  Barrett's vid is a montage of popular movie clips craftily spliced together with shots of his '89 Porsche.  We found it to be enjoyable and well done.  FYI, parts of this video may be NSFW.

If you have a favorite Porsche picture (or video) you would like to share with other FLATSIXES.com readers simply email it to pictureoftheweek@flatsixes.com.

See what they had to say in this video

Goodwood at night, and three Porsche race cars fire into life. Between them the 936, 962C and WSC-95 represent some of Porsche's 17 victories at Le Mans, but this video isn't about that. Instead, it's about the joy of three race-tuned flat sixes splitting the Sussex night.
