The 2015 Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is just over a week away. Among the 145 cars and motorcycles racing the 156 corners and 12.42 miles to an altitude of 14,114’ above sea level are several Porsches with very strong opportunities for class wins. Recent testing times suggest a very good year for Porsche, but not without some stiff competition.

Other than the invention of some radical new technology, the three major ways by which Porsche can improve fuel economy are: 1. Hybrid technology. 2. More efficient engines (such as turbocharging). 3. Make more use of lightweight material in manufacturing.  It seems like Porsche has numbers 1 and 2 covered fairly well using in-house talent and expertise.  And while you would think the are well versed on the use of lightweight material, Porsche still felt they could increase their productivity and expertise through their most recent acquisition.

Last week came word that EA is losening their stranglehold over Porsche licensing in video games and that we can expect to see a number of Stuttgart's finest in the new Forza 2.  Not wanting to lose any moment to Forza, the Need for Speed franchise released a trailer of their upcoming E3 version.  While they don't come right out and say it, I think you'll see some familiar Porsche faces (what they call "icons") and cars.  I for one can't wait to give this a try.
